Our father, Ronnie “The King” Davis, 66, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016, when he succumbed to his injuries sustained in a drag racing accident at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina. Dad had a storied racing career that spanned more than 40 years, and is considered by many to be the grandfather to Top Sportsman. His influence on the class is legendary. He was a five-time IHRA Top Sportsman world champion, two-time NHRA Top Sportsman division two champion, and was the reigning PDRA Top Sportsman champion when he died. He was a loving father and grandfather, a fierce competitor, and a spirited and kind-hearted man. He touched the lives of so many in his business and racing career. He is, and will continue to be missed very much.
